Still Night

Still Night was a short-lived band remembered for a Manchester gig that linked its lead singer, Jimmy X, with Jack Lawson and brought it into contact with Allaw. Its brief life left a lasting connection between the musicians even after the group disbanded.

Manchester Gig and Membership

Jimmy X recalled performing with Still Night at a Manchester gig featuring four bands. Allaw was among them, and the groups shared the bill. Jimmy X met Jack Lawson backstage, where the two spent time together; the encounter began a connection that continued after the bands had broken up.

Jimmy X described himself as Still Night’s lead singer during this period. The group did not last long in that incarnation, a qualification that leaves open the possibility of other lineups or phases without establishing what they involved.

Breakup and Lasting Connections

Still Night broke up a few months after the Manchester gig, around the same time as Allaw. The two bands’ brief existence nevertheless had consequences beyond their performances: Jack Lawson and Jimmy X stayed in touch after Allaw ended. When Jimmy X later started the Jimmy X Band, he considered inviting Jack Lawson to join, but decided against it because he did not think Jack Lawson was a sufficiently good musician.
